Ephemera and kid’s toys nostalgia

So many arguments have been made about the way kids play today and back in the old days. Technology based today, use of imagination back then. Kids were so able to make up games and have fun using their imagination in the past. Lay on your back and look at the clouds and see what you wanted to see in their shapes. Play hide and go seek and make up your own rules about how it would work. Use your donkey toys and build a play city in the dirt and play for hours running that city. Make a leaf house in the fall when the leaves have fallen and decide how big your foods would be and how many you would have Make a snow Fort in the winter and pretend how the snow ball fight might happen. Ride your bike or tricycle down the sidewalk and pretend you were driving a real vehicle, ringing the bell as you went. Get your bag of marbles, dig a small hole in the ground and compete with a friend to win marbles in the hole. Be a deal maker by trading Art,search, hockey cards, or baseball cards. Oh so many ways of having fun that was all based on your imagination.

The stick horse from the catalogue featured in the earlier blog is a good example of how a simple device inexpensive at the time, could provide so much fun It was all about the imagination in using it.
